A lot of people use Shopify to manage their online stores, but shy away from Worldwide Brands and Salehoo as sources of wholesalers and drop shippers – preferring instead to go with suppliers they find through sites like DHGate and Ali Express.
It’s quite confusing for me, as I’ve used Worldwide Brands for a long time (I joined years ago, when the membership fee was much higher – over $400) and have found that the quality of products is much better than what’s found on there sites – including cheaper directories like Salehoo.
Although Ali Express and similar sites such as DHGate are great sources of cheap products, it’s very difficult to run a drop shipping business when you have to rely on suppliers who are based in China as the time it takes to ship to the United States is very long – often as long as a month. Most customers will not tolerate such slow delivery, and refund rates are high for Shopify stores that drop ship from China.
But Worldwide Brands offers nearly as many products as these sites – and it both guarantees the reliability of every supplier, and as many are based in the USA, can offer much faster delivery.
So if you have the money to join a directory like Salehoo or Worldwide Brands then I highly recommend them – although they are not cheap and are much more manual to use than the automated solutions you can set up with Ali Express, they offer a much better experience for your customers, which in the long term will pay off for your business.
